World Ride is this weekend, June 25-26!

You may see an unusually high number of motorcycles on the road this weekend, and there’s a reason why.  June 25-26 is World Ride 2015, a campaign promoted by Harley-Davidson that encourages motorcycle enthusiasts to get out and ride and report their miles, whether they ride a Harley or not.

According to the Harley-Davidson website, “The mission is simple: just ride for the love of riding. Grab your favorite buddies, whether they ride or not, and hit the open road. When you’re done, record your miles here and let’s show the world what we’re made of.”

World Ride was originally launched in 2008 as “Million Mile Monday®” and was promoted exclusively to Harley owners to “turn an unremarkable day of the week into something extraordinary,” according to the company GS, the marketing engine behind Harley-Davidson.  In 2011, the event was promoted to all riders (regardless of brand), and in 2012, the World Ride expanded from one to two days. Last year, riders reported over 10 million miles in two days on Harley-Davidson’s website.

This year, World Ride is on a weekend for the first time, so far more miles are expected.  Dealerships across the globe are also hosting events to support and promote the weekend.  All riders are encouraged to participate regardless of age, gender, or type of motorcycle, and whether the miles are accumulated solo or in a group ride. The event is simply intended to unite riders by their shared passion for two wheels.

To participate, just keep track of the miles you ride over the weekend and report them at the Harley-Davidson website, where you can also download a certificate of participation.  On social media use hashtag #HDworldride to report about your day, post photos, and follow along, For me, Sunday’s weather forecast doesn’t look promising right now, but you know where I’ll be on Saturday!

About Jennifer Hooper

In 2014, I rode on the back of a guy's Harley all summer long. That one season sparked a personal interest that prompted me to learn how to ride a motorcycle myself. I attended a Harley-Davidson Riding Academy class in April 2015. (You got it...I'm a newbie!) Follow along at HerHarley.com.
